  • Kawkawlin is a community found along M-13. It is on the south side of the Kawkawlin River. This area is just south of the border with Kawkawlin Township. It sits at an elevation of about 597 feet (182 meters) above sea level.

Brooks Community

  • Brooks is another community in the township. You can find it where the Huron and Eastern Railway crosses Hotchkiss Road and Euclid Avenue. This spot is where Monitor Township meets Frankenlust Township and Bay City.

Early Post Offices

The Kawkawlin Post Office first opened its doors on March 6, 1868. It has been helping people send and receive mail ever since.

The Colfax Post Office

On January 16, 1897, another post office called Colfax opened. It was located at Mackinaw Road and Salzburg Road. The Colfax Post Office closed for a short time on May 15, 1900. But it reopened quickly on May 29, 1900. It then stayed open until May 15, 1901.
