Monroe Bay is a calm and safe body of water located in Colonial Beach, Virginia. It connects to the huge Potomac River at its southern end. The Potomac River is super wide here, more than six miles across!

Monroe Bay itself is about two miles long and one-third of a mile wide. It's a popular spot because it has many marinas and private docks. These offer a safe place for boats to stay before heading out to the big waters of the Potomac River. You'll often see both powerboats and sailboats enjoying the bay.

What Can You Do at Monroe Bay?

Monroe Bay is a great place for outdoor fun! Besides boating, people love to:

  • Go fishing
  • Catch crabs
  • Enjoy canoeing
  • Try kayaking

The bay also offers beautiful water views from the many homes built along its shores. It's a peaceful and scenic spot for everyone to enjoy.

Homes Along the Bay

Most of the buildings along Monroe Bay are single-family homes. They come in many different styles and sizes. There are also two communities with townhomes:

  • Monroe Landing: This community has 28 townhomes that were built in 1990.
  • Monroe Point: This is a newer townhome community that is still being built. So far, over 70 homes with waterfront or water views have been finished. Many more are planned! This community also has private docks and a nature trail that is about one mile long.
