Monster Café is a funny TV show from Children's BBC (CBBC). It's all about three friendly monsters who work in a very unusual café. They serve strange food, meet other weird and wonderful creatures, and often have to deal with their grumpy boss, the Baroness. The show first aired in the United Kingdom from 1994 to 1995.
The series was shown again on CBBC On Choice between 2000 and 2001. It also appeared on CBeebies in November 2007. However, after some viewers said the show was a bit too spooky for very young children, it was taken off the schedule after only four episodes.

Meet the Monster Café Crew!
This section introduces the main characters who make the Monster Café so special and silly.
Frankie
Frankie is a smart female robot. She is the manager of the Monster Café. She's usually the one who figures out how to solve problems. Frankie has many cool gadgets built into her body. She uses them to help out or sometimes even to outsmart the Baroness.
Igor
Igor is a very old Transylvanian man, supposedly a trillion millenniums old! He works as the cook at the café. Igor isn't very clean, but he says it's just an old Transylvanian tradition. He loves to mix up strange potions and weird food creations. Igor has a pet dustbin named Vinny. He can also get very angry, which he calls a 'Monster Wobbly'. When this happens, he breathes fire and throws things like saucepans and custard pies. These pies almost always hit Skull!
Mummy
Mummy is a 6000-year-old Egyptian mummy. He is the caretaker at the Monster Café. Mummy is a bit silly and often gets things wrong. He also says his 'M' sounds like 'R', so he calls himself 'Rummy'. Mummy sleeps in a coffin when he's not working.
Baroness de Monstro
The Baroness is the monsters' boss. She is often in a bad mood and doesn't like the monsters having fun. She also hates it when they give away food for free. The Baroness actually created Frankie to help her manage the café.
Vinny the Bin
Vinny is Igor's pet dustbin. He acts a lot like a dog and will eat almost anything!
Skull
Skull is a talking skull who lives in the Monster Café. He loves to tell jokes, but they are usually very bad. Skull often gets picked on. The Baroness might turn him into a cabbage, or Igor might throw a custard pie at him.
Chas
Chas is the Monster Café's best and favorite customer. He loves to eat slugs and speaks with a very strong accent from Birmingham, England.
The show is narrated by Marcel McCalla, who tells us what's happening.
What Happens in the Café?
Monster Café is full of funny adventures and challenges for Frankie, Igor, and Mummy. Each episode brings new problems, often caused by the Baroness or strange visitors.
The first series, which aired in 1994, had 15 episodes. The monsters had to clean up the café before the Baroness returned, or risk being turned into slugs! They also dealt with the Baroness trying to steal their heating, and Igor celebrating his very old birthday. Other episodes included the Baroness needing to get married to inherit her castle, and the café hosting a "Monster Vision Song Contest." They even had to train Vinny the Bin for a race! The Baroness tried to change the café into "Merry Monster," and at one point, Mummy was almost sold! Igor's smelly socks even escaped, causing a sock invasion. The series ended with the monsters trying to get rid of the Baroness for good.
The second series, which aired in 1995, also had 15 episodes. It started with the Baroness escaping from Neptune. Skull even became the café's manager for a bit! The monsters tried to win the "Monster Lottery." The "Healthy Monster" returned, bringing his mummy with him. There was a big competition for the "Best Vegetable," and Frankie accidentally split into two! Mummy even tried to learn how to speak properly. The Baroness chose Mummy as her partner for a dance competition. The monsters also had to look after a mysterious baby found in the café. Igor suffered from a terrible toothache, and the "Skunk Monster" tried to make his mark. In one episode, Igor had to look after the Baroness when she lost her memory after bumping her head. The series ended with the Baroness trying to cancel Christmas for the monsters.
