Monterey Car Week is a super exciting event held every August in Monterey, California. It's a whole week dedicated to amazing cars! Car fans from all over the world come here. You can see car auctions, fun rallies, exciting races, and cool car shows. The biggest event is the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on the last Sunday.

This tradition started way back in 1950. It grew from the famous Pebble Beach Road Race. Over the years, more and more official and unofficial car events joined in. In 2024, over 100,000 people attended. Millions of dollars were spent on cars at the auctions.

Top Events at Monterey Car Week

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is the main event of Monterey Car Week. It happens on the final Sunday. This show helps raise money for different charities.

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a four-day event. It takes place at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Over 500 people take part in this event. Each year, it often features a special car brand. Before 2010, it was called the Monterey Historics. A smaller event, the Monterey Pre-Reunion, happens the weekend before.

Jet Center Party

The Jet Center Party is an invitation-only event. It's also known as the Motorworks Revival. This party happens at the Monterey Jet Center. It's usually on the Wednesday before the Pebble Beach Concours. Many people see it as the unofficial start of the week. Gordon McCall hosts this event. You can see both fancy cars and private jets here.

Legends of the Autobahn

The Legends of the Autobahn show features German cars. It started as an event for the BMW Car Club of America. Then it grew to include all German car brands. It used to show Porsches too. But in 2014, a separate event for Porsches was created. This show is free for everyone to visit. It is held at the Pacific Grove Golf Links.

Porsche Werks Reunion

The Porsche Werks Reunion is all about Porsche cars. It includes Porsches from every year and model. This event started in 2014. It separated from the Legends of the Autobahn show. At its first event, 519 cars were on display. The Porsche Club of America started this gathering. It has moved locations a few times. Now it is held at the Monterey Pines Golf Course. All Porsche clubs, owners, and fans are welcome.

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering is a special car show. It only features about 200 cars. It takes place at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club. Only 3,000 tickets are sold to keep it from getting too crowded. The best car at this show wins an award. This award lets the car compete in the Peninsula “Best of the Best” competition. That competition brings together eight top cars from around the world in Paris, France.

Concours & Cocktails

Concours & Cocktails is an invite-only event. It has been held every year since 2000. It takes place at the private Santa Lucia Preserve. The event is on the grounds of an old 1920s hacienda. Up to 100 cars from club members and special guests are shown. Some of these cars also appear at the Pebble Beach Concours.

Concorso Italiano

The Concorso Italiano features amazing Italian cars. It is held on the golf course at the Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Club.

Car Auctions

Many classic car auctions happen during Monterey Car Week. These auctions take place at different times and places. Famous auction houses like Bonhams, RM Auctions, Russo and Steele, Gooding & Company, Mecum Auctions, and Rick Cole Auctions hold them. In 2014, total sales reached over $463 million. The most expensive car sold was a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO berlinetta. It sold for over $38 million!
