Exploring the Montes de Málaga Geography
This mountain range stretches out between two areas. To the west, you'll find the Guadalhorce valley. To the east, it reaches towards the Axarquía region.
If you look north, the Corredor de Periana valley separates these mountains from the Cordillera Antequerana. To the south, the beautiful Mediterranean Sea sparkles.
Rivers and Water in the Mountains
The Guadalmedina River flows right through the Montes de Málaga. This river's water level changes a lot depending on the season. It has five smaller rivers, called tributaries, that join it. These tributaries start in the mountains themselves.
The five tributaries are:
- Arroyo de las Vacas
- Arroyo Chaperas
- Arroyo Humaina
- Arroyo Hondo
- Arroyo de Los Frailes
Most of the year, these smaller rivers are dry. But when it rains, they can fill up! There's also a dam called the Limonero Dam on the Guadalmedina River. It helps provide water for the local area.
