Montmeló Municipal Museum facts for kids
The Montmeló Municipal Museum is a cool place to visit in the town of Montmeló, which is in Catalonia, Spain. It's a museum that helps you learn about the history of Montmeló and the area around it.
The museum is inside an old and beautiful house called Can Caballé. This house was built a long time ago, around 1920. In 1987, the town council bought the building. They decided it would be perfect for a museum, and after some work, it opened its doors in 1998. The Montmeló Municipal Museum is also part of a bigger group of museums called the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network.
Exploring Montmeló's Past
The main part of the museum is called Montmeló, camins i anys, which means "Montmeló, pathways and years." This exhibit takes you on a journey through the town's history. You'll see how Montmeló has changed over many, many years, and how it fits into the history of its region, El Vallès, and all of Catalonia.
Ancient Times in Montmeló
As you walk through the museum, you'll discover amazing things from different time periods. You can see objects from the Neolithic age, which was when people first started farming. There are also items from the Iberians, who were ancient people living in Spain, and from the time when the Romans ruled the area.
Medieval Discoveries
The museum also has a section about the Medieval period. Here, you can see artifacts from the Middle Ages. Many of these historical items come from a special collection that a person named Ignasi Cantarell loaned to the museum in 1998. In the medieval part of the exhibit, you can even see pieces of Romanesque murals. These are old wall paintings that originally came from the local church of Santa Maria de Montmeló.
