The Battle of Montornès

On January 4, 1485, a big fight called the Battle of Montornès took place here. It was part of the Second War of the Remences.

This battle was between two groups:

• The Remensas: These were farmers who wanted more freedom. They were led by a person named Pere Joan Sala.
• The army of Catalonia: This army was led by the Viceroy, who was like a governor. His name was Pere Anton de Rocacrespa.

The Remensas won this battle! It was an important victory for them in their fight for rights.
