Montrouis is a beautiful coastal town in Haiti. It is located in the Artibonite area, just south of Saint-Marc. Montrouis is a very important place for beach tourism in Haiti. It has many well-known hotels and resorts. One famous resort is the Moulin-sur-Mer.
The town sits on the Côtes-des-Arcadins. This area has some of Haiti's longest stretches of pure white sand beaches. It is also a fantastic place for sailing and fishing adventures!
Amateur Radio and Montrouis
Montrouis once hosted an important meeting for amateur radio fans. Amateur radio, also known as "ham radio," is a hobby. People use radio equipment to talk to others around the world. They do this for fun, learning, and sometimes even during emergencies.
A Special Meeting in 1994
In December 1994, Montrouis welcomed the 25th meeting of the International Amateur Radio Permit (IARP) General Assembly. This was a big event for ham radio operators. During this meeting, a new rule was created. This rule made it easier for amateur radio operators to use their radios in other countries. If they had a permit from one IARP member country, they could use it temporarily in another. This helped people connect across borders more easily.
