Moodie Island is a small island located in the northern part of Canada. It's one of the many islands that are part of Baffin Island, which is a very large island itself. Moodie Island is not home to any people, meaning it is uninhabited.
It is part of a huge group of islands called the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. This archipelago is located within the territory of Nunavut, which is a large and mostly Arctic region of Canada.
Where is Moodie Island?
Moodie Island is found on the southern side of a large body of water called Cumberland Sound. This sound is an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. The island helps to separate two smaller water passages: Littlecote Channel to its west and Neptune Bay to its east.
Size of the Island
Moodie Island covers an area of 233 square kilometers (about 90 square miles). To give you an idea, that's roughly the size of a medium-sized city, but instead of buildings and roads, it's natural land in the Arctic.
Arctic Environment
Because Moodie Island is in the Arctic, it has a very cold climate. The land is often covered in snow and ice for much of the year. Despite the harsh conditions, the Arctic environment supports unique wildlife and plants that are adapted to the cold.
