Moon Lake is a small community located in Coahoma County, Mississippi, United States. It's an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Moon Lake is about 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Lula. It is also about 4 miles (6.4 km) north of Coahoma. This community is found right along the shores of Moon Lake.

The Famous Moon Lake Casino
In 1926, a group called the Clarksdale Elks Club built a lodge on Moon Lake. This building later became a very famous spot.
A New Beginning: Moon Lake Casino Opens
The property changed hands in 1936. That's when the Moon Lake Casino first opened its doors. It quickly became a popular place for people to visit.
Writers and Musicians Visit Moon Lake
Many famous people visited the Moon Lake Casino. One well-known visitor was the writer Tennessee Williams. He even mentioned the Moon Lake Casino in almost all of his plays!
Sarah Wright, who has owned the property since 1985, shared some interesting facts. She said people loved going to the Moon Lake Casino for its special food. They served delicious Kansas City steaks. They even flew in fresh lobster all the way from Maine! This was a big deal back then because airplane travel was very new.
Another famous writer, William Faulkner, also visited this place. He wrote about it in one of his novels, calling it the "Moon Lake Hotel." Other artists, like writer John Faulkner and musician W.C. Handy, also enjoyed visiting and wrote about the property.
Later Years and Historic Recognition
In 1946, the property got new owners. They decided to rename it "Uncle Henry's Place."
Years later, in 2008, the Mississippi Department of Archives and History placed a special marker there. This marker helps remember the important history of the Moon Lake Casino.
