John David "Moon" Martin (born October 31, 1945 – died May 11, 2020) was an American musician. He was known as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

About Moon Martin's Music Career

John Martin was born in Altus, Oklahoma, in the United States. He became well-known in the 1970s as a pop artist and composer (someone who writes music). He started out playing rockabilly music, which is an early style of rock and roll.

Moon Martin wrote some famous songs that other artists made popular. For example, he wrote "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)", which became a big hit for the English singer Robert Palmer. He also wrote "Cadillac Walk", which the American singer Willy DeVille made famous.

Martin also had a few songs that became minor hits on his own. These included "Rolene" and "No Chance" in 1979. Later, "Signal For Help" (1981) and "X-ray Vision" (1982) also charted. His song "X-Ray Vision" from 1982 even had a popular music video on MTV.

People say he got the nickname "Moon" because the word "moon" appeared in the lyrics of many of his songs.

Moon Martin passed away on May 11, 2020, in Encino, California, at the age of 74. He died of natural causes. After he passed away, an album called Midnight Moon was released on October 31, 2022. You can find it on various music streaming services.
