Leslie Seaforth, known by his stage name More Or Les, is a cool Canadian rapper, DJ, and music producer. He is a member of the Canadian hip hop group called Backburner. More Or Les lives in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario.

Discovering Music

More Or Les got into hip hop when he was young. He started learning to DJ at age 11, with help from his older brother Colin. In high school, he began freestyling and performing at school events. This is when he chose his stage name and started making his own beats.

In 2001, More Or Les became a regular DJ at "In Divine Style." This was a popular open mic night in Toronto. There, he met other hip hop artists like Dorc, Vangel, and the Wordburglar. These connections helped him release his first album.

First Album Success

His first album, I Only Stop for the Red Ants, came out in 2003. He used the money from this album to release a new "shrinkwrap edition" in 2004. This new version had improved songs, a bonus track, and a music video. The video won an award at the Next Festival in 2004. To share his music, Les performed at venues and also busked. Busking means performing music on the street for tips. He was a regular performer on Queen West in downtown Toronto for several years.

Collaborations and New Albums

In 2005, More Or Les met and performed with The Herbaliser, a hip hop band from the UK. This led to tours in Canada and Europe with the band. He also appeared on their 2008 album, Same As It Never Was.

More Or Les released his second album, The Truth About Rap, in 2006. It featured artists like the Wordburglar and Rhythmicru. Critics really liked this album. Exclaim! magazine named it one of the Top 10 Hip Hop releases of 2006. Songs from the album were often played on CBC Radio 3.

In 2009, More Or Les teamed up with Fresh Kils and DJ Uncle Fester. They released The Les Kils EP. This album got great reviews and quickly became #1 on Canadian college radio. The song Pop N Chips was played a lot on CBC Radio 3. Its music video was also shown on Canadian TV channels MuchMusic and MusiquePlus.

In 2010, More Or Les released his third full album, Brunch with a Vengeance. This album was a "concept album." It turned complaints from fans, friends, and family into songs. Besides making music, More Or Les also co-hosts Hip Hop Karaoke in Toronto. This fun event started in 2006.

In 2020, More Or Les and Peter Chapman were nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Original Song. This was for their song "We Run the World" from the movie Riot Girls.
