Moreno Moser's Cycling Journey
Starting as a Young Rider
Moreno Moser started cycling with amateur teams like U.S. Montecorona and Arvedi Lucchini Unidelta. In the second half of 2011, he joined a professional team called Liquigas-Cannondale as a stagiaire. This is like an intern in cycling, where a young rider gets to try out with a pro team.
After his internship, Moser officially became a professional rider with Liquigas-Cannondale in 2012. He signed a two-year contract.
Big Wins in 2012
Moreno quickly showed his talent in 2012.
- In February, he won his first professional race, the Trofeo Laigueglia. He rode ahead of everyone else to win alone.
- In May, he won the Eschborn-Frankfurt City Loop. Again, he attacked near the end of the race to take the victory.
His biggest win in 2012 was the Tour de Pologne, a major international race.
- He won the first stage by attacking in the final kilometer.
- He held the race lead for several days.
- On the sixth stage, he won again, passing another rider right at the finish line.
- Moreno won the overall race by just five seconds!
Later that year, at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, he almost won again. He finished in second place, just a few seconds behind the winner.
Success in 2013
In 2013, Moreno continued to achieve great results.
- In February, he helped his teammate Peter Sagan win a race called Gran Premio Città di Camaiore.
- The next weekend, Moreno won the famous Strade Bianche race in Italy. This race is known for its gravel roads. He attacked from the main group and then rode away from the leaders on a very steep climb near the end. His teammate Peter Sagan finished second, making it a great day for their team.
