Morolica is a town, also known as a municipality, located in the country of Honduras. It is part of the Choluteca department.
This town has a unique story, especially after a major natural disaster in 1998. The current town, sometimes called New Morolica, was built in a new spot after the original one was destroyed.

Morolica is a community in Honduras. It is governed by a mayor, who helps lead the town. As of 2023, about 5,472 people live in Morolica.
History of Morolica
Morolica was first established in the late 1800s. The original town stood for many years. However, in October 1998, a very strong storm called Hurricane Mitch caused severe flooding. This flood completely destroyed the old town of Morolica.
After the disaster, the people of Morolica decided to rebuild. They chose a new location in a valley, about five kilometers (or three miles) away from where the old town used to be. This new settlement is what we now call Morolica.
Life in Morolica
Life in Morolica centers around its community and local services. The main way people earn a living here is through farming.
The town has several important places for its residents:

- A high school for teenagers.
- A public library where people can read and learn.
