Morten Qvenild (born August 31, 1978) is a talented Norwegian jazz musician. He is known for playing the piano and keyboards. He also leads bands and helps produce music.

Morten Qvenild's Musical Journey
Morten Qvenild began his jazz journey in 1995. He played in a big band called Ung Musikk. Later, he studied jazz at the Norges Musikkhøgskole, a music academy in Norway.
He used to play with different groups early in his career. These included Østenfor Sol and the OJ Trio. He was also a member of the bands Shining from 1999 to 2003. From 2000 to 2002, he played with Jaga Jazzist.
Main Music Projects
Since 2000, Morten has been a key part of Susanna & the Magical Orchestra. He is often called the "orchestra" for this group. He is also an original member of Solveig Slettahjell's Slow Motion Quintet. They often perform as a duo too.
Besides these long-term projects, Morten has worked with many other artists. He has played with the Jon Klette Quartet and The National Bank. He also toured with Nils Petter Molvær's Khmer and Bertine Zetlitz Band.
In 2003, Morten started his own trio called In the Country. He formed it with his fellow students Roger Arntzen (bass) and Pål Hausken (drums). They released five albums with the Rune Grammofon record label.
For their last two albums, Whiteout (2009) and Sounds and Sights (2011), Andreas Mjøs joined the band. He played many different instruments. Their very last album was released by the German ACT label.
Special Performances
In 2011, Morten performed a new version of Vår beste dag with singer Marit Larsen. This song by Erik Bye became a special tune for NRK, a Norwegian broadcasting company.
In 2017, Morten played many instruments for a-ha's MTV Unplugged recording. He played upright piano, harpsichord, harmonium, and more. This was for their live album "Summer Solstice" in Giske, Norway. He also joined their Unplugged tour in 2018. Later, he played keyboards for their Electric Summer tour.
Awards and Recognitions
Morten Qvenild has received several important awards for his music:
- 2004: He won the JazzIntro Award with his band In the Country at the Moldejazz festival.
- 2004: He received the Spellemannprisen (a major Norwegian music award) in two categories. One was for jazz with Solveig Slettahjell. The other was for pop music with The National Bank.
- 2007: He was honored with the Kongsberg Jazz Award.
- 2016: He won the Edvardprisen in the open class for his album Personal Piano.
