Imagine a really old monument from the Bronze Age! The Moss Farm Road Stone Circle (also known as Machrie Moor 10) is what's left of an ancient burial mound. This mound was surrounded by a cool circle of stones. You can find it near a place called Machrie on the Isle of Arran in Scotland.
Exploring the Stone Circle
This ancient stone circle is located about 3 miles north of a village called Blackwaterfoot. It sits on the western side of the beautiful Isle of Arran. Not too far away, about 1 kilometre to the east, you can find the famous Machrie Moor Stone Circles. That's why this one is sometimes called Machrie Moor Circle 10!
What It Looks Like Now
Over time, some of the stones from this ancient mound have been taken away. A modern fence and a farm track now cut through the northern part of the site. This monument was once a complete circle of stones. It measured about 23 metres across.
Today, the edge of the mound has seven upright stones. These stones are about 1 metre tall. There are also at least five more large stones lying on their sides.
