Mount Hebron, sometimes called Hebron, is a small place in Greene County, Alabama, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. Mount Hebron is found along Alabama State Route 39, about 11.4 miles (18.3 km) northwest of a town called Eutaw.
History of Mount Hebron
Mount Hebron got its name from a famous mountain mentioned in the Bible. This shows that early settlers often named places after important things to them.
Post Office Operations
For many years, Mount Hebron had its own post office.
- It first operated under the name Hebron from 1826 to 1833.
- Later, it reopened as Mount Hebron and served the community from 1837 all the way until 1965.
Having a post office was very important for communities back then. It helped people send and receive letters, which was how they communicated over long distances.
