How Waikato Spur Got Its Name
The US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) officially named Waikato Spur in 1994. They named it after the University of Waikato. This university is located in Hamilton, New Zealand. The name was chosen because other nearby places are also named after colleges and universities.
