Mount Swannell facts for kids
Mount Swannell is a mountain in British Columbia, Canada. It stands tall at 1,821 meters (5,974 feet). This makes it a significant peak in the Fawnie Range.
The mountain is part of the Nechako Plateau in the central part of British Columbia. It's found south of where the Entiako River flows into Natalkuz Lake. This lake is also part of the larger Nechako Reservoir.
Mount Swannell is the most northern peak in the Fawnie Range. It's also located at the northeast edge of Entiako Provincial Park. In fact, it's the only named mountain in the Fawnie Range that is inside this park!
Why is it Called Mount Swannell?
Many places in British Columbia are named after important people. Mount Swannell is named after a man named Frank Swannell. He was a famous land surveyor in British Columbia.
Frank Swannell spent many years mapping the province. He often traveled on foot or horseback. He worked from the late 1800s into the mid-1900s.
He mapped the area around Mount Swannell in the 1920s. He created very detailed maps and surveys. Some of his important works include:
