A Look Back: Mount Tabor's History

The community got its name from Mount Tabor, a famous mountain in the Middle East. It might have been named directly after it, or perhaps after something else that was also named for the mountain.
A post office was opened in Mount Tabor in 1831. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office closed down in 1860, about 29 years after it first opened.
