Mount Takao (高尾山, Takao-san) is a famous mountain in Japan. It is located about 50 kilometers (31 miles) west of the center of Tokyo. This beautiful mountain is part of the Meiji no Mori Takao Quasi-National Park.
In 1927, Mount Takao was chosen as one of the 100 Landscapes of Japan. These places were picked because they showed the best of Japan and its culture during the Shōwa period (1926-1989).
