Mountain Home is located in the northern part of Henderson County. It shares borders with other communities. To the south, you'll find Balfour. To the northeast, there's Mud Creek. This creek flows into the French Broad River.
North Carolina Highway 191 runs along the southwestern edge of Mountain Home. The main road through the community is U.S. Route 25 Business. This road can take you to Interstate 26 and then to Asheville. If you head south on US 25 Business, you'll reach Hendersonville.
