The Post Office at Mountain Rest
Even though it was a small place, Mountain Rest had its own post office for a few years. A post office is a very important part of any community. It helps people send and receive letters and packages. This was especially true in the past, before the internet and cell phones. The post office at Mountain Rest was open from 1945 to 1947. It then reopened from 1948 to 1953. Having a post office meant that Mountain Rest was a recognized place where people lived and worked.
