This community is located within the Ramah Navajo Indian Reservation. In 2010, this place was called the Pinehill CDP. However, before the 2020 census, its name was changed to Mountain View.
Mountain View is found in the northwestern part of Cibola County. It is about 4 miles (6.4 km) southwest of New Mexico State Road 53 and the famous El Morro National Monument.
