Muboraksho Abdulvahhobovich Mirzoshoyev (Tajik: Муборакшо Абдулваҳҳобович Мирзошоев), often called Muboraksho or Misha, was a famous singer and composer from Tajikistan. He was known as one of the first artists to create Tajik rock music, alongside Daler Nazarov. Muboraksho was born on August 19, 1961, in the Rushon district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region in Tajikistan. He passed away on February 8, 2001.
Muboraksho's Musical Journey
Muboraksho grew up in his home village of Emts in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO). When he was 14, he wrote his first song, "Chor Javon" ("Four Youths"). This song later became very popular across Tajikistan when it was played on the radio in the late 1980s.
From 1984 to 1987, he studied at the Leningrad Aviation Institute in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). However, his early success in music made him want to focus on a music career. Muboraksho, or Misha as his fans lovingly called him, began his professional music journey in 1988. He joined Daler Nazarov's music group after being introduced by Ikbol Zavkibekov, a professional musician. In the same year, Muboraksho Mirzoshoyev's music became very well-known in Tajikistan.
His Music and Impact
Some of Muboraksho's songs explored themes of deep feelings and mystery. These songs really touched his fans. He was very special to all Tajiks. His music and lyrics, which sometimes used ideas from old Persian poems, captured the imagination of his listeners. He also had many cheerful and upbeat songs.
One of his biggest hits was "Ay yōrum biyō" (in Tajik Ай ёрум биё), released in 1988. This song is still a favorite at weddings all over Tajikistan. A Tajik filmmaker, Yormahmad Aralov, made a movie called Kumir (The Idol) that starred Daler Nazarov. Muboraksho's songs were used for the character Shodkom in this film. Muboraksho himself chose not to act in the movie. He didn't want people to think he could replace Daler Nazarov.
Many musicians have created their own versions of Muboraksho's songs. This includes artists like n.A.T.o.. The Persian rock group Kiosk also made an Iranian cover of "Ay yōrum biyō" called "Ay Yarom Bia," featuring Mohsen Namjoo.
Muboraksho is an important symbol of Tajik popular music from the 20th century. He was one of the few artists who had a huge impact on today's Tajik music scene. His music helped bring together different groups of people in Tajikistan. Many current Tajik musicians say he was a major influence on their work.
Muboraksho was married and had three sons. His youngest son, Emomalisho, is now a singer, following in his father's footsteps. Muboraksho passed away on February 8, 2001, due to an illness.
Muboraksho's Music Releases
Even though he was very popular, Muboraksho never officially released any albums during his lifetime. However, in 1997, two unofficial albums called Jiray-1 and Jiray-2 were released. This happened without permission from Daler Nazarov or Muboraksho's family. The first album mostly had Daler Nazarov's songs. The second album had 13 of Muboraksho's songs, including "Ay yorum biyo."
