Muhammad bin 'Abd ar-Rahman bin 'Obayd Allah (Arabic: محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عبيد الله), also known as Muhammad III (محمد الثالث), was an important ruler in a place called Al-Andalus. This was a part of the Iberian Peninsula (modern-day Spain and Portugal) where Muslims lived and ruled for many centuries. Muhammad III was a Caliph of Córdoba, which means he was a powerful leader, like a king or emperor, of the city of Córdoba.
Muhammad III's Rule
Muhammad III became the Caliph of Córdoba in the year 1024. He took over after the death of another ruler, Abd ar-Rahman V. His time as Caliph was quite short, lasting only about a year.
Challenges in Córdoba
During his rule, the people of Córdoba were not happy with him. They decided to protest and rise up against his leadership. Because of this, Muhammad III was forced to leave the city.
His Final Days
After leaving Córdoba, Muhammad III died in 1025. He was about 50 years old at the time. It is believed that he passed away because he was poisoned.
A Famous Daughter
Muhammad III was also the father of a very famous person. His daughter, Wallada bint al-Mustakfi, became a well-known poet. She was celebrated for her beautiful poems and her strong personality.
