Life of Muhammad VIII
Muhammad VIII was born in 1411. His father was Yusuf III, who was also a Sultan. Muhammad became Sultan after his father passed away. He was the oldest son.
First Time as Sultan
Muhammad VIII ruled Granada two times. His first time as Sultan was from 1417 to 1419. He was quite young when he first took the throne.
When he became Sultan, he quickly worked to keep peace. He renewed important agreements. These agreements were between Granada, the Kingdom of Castile, and the Marinid Sultanate. The Marinids were a powerful group in North Africa.
In 1418, Muhammad VIII showed his support for the Marinids. He sent soldiers to help them. This was during a battle called the Siege of Ceuta.
Second Time as Sultan
Muhammad VIII's second time as Sultan was later. He ruled again from 1427 to 1429. This shows that he was an important figure in Granada's history. He faced many challenges during his time as ruler.
