Story of Mummies Alive!
Long ago in ancient Egypt, a bad sorcerer (a magic user) named Scarab wanted to live forever. He tried to steal the life force of Prince Rapses, the pharaoh's son. Scarab was caught and buried alive for his crime.
Thousands of years later, Scarab wakes up in modern San Francisco. He finds out that Prince Rapses has been reborn as a 12-year-old boy named Presley Carnovan. Scarab wants to finish what he started and steal Rapses' spirit from Presley to become immortal.
But Rapses' loyal bodyguards—Ja-Kal, Rath, Armon, and Nefer-Tina—also wake up! Along with Rapses' cat, Kahti, they must protect Presley from Scarab. These mummies use the power of the sun god Ra to transform into powerful guardians.
Each mummy gets special powers from an Egyptian god. Ja-Kal has the spirit of a falcon, allowing him to fly. Rath uses the spirit of a snake and can cast spells. Armon has the strength of a ram and a golden arm. Nefer-Tina uses the spirit of a cat and is very agile. When they need to transform, they shout, "With the Strength of Ra!" After using their powers, they must rest in their sarcophagi (special coffins) to regain strength. They can also make scary faces to frighten people!
Besides Scarab, the mummies often face other ancient Egyptian gods and spirits. These creatures are usually brought to the modern world by Scarab's plans, which often go wrong.
Main Characters
Humans
- Presley Carnovan – Presley is a 12-year-old boy living in San Francisco. He discovers he has the spirit of Prince Rapses XII inside him. The mummies become his guardians, and he slowly accepts his important role.
- Prince Rapses – He was the heir to the Egyptian throne 3500 years ago. Scarab killed him when he was young. His spirit now lives within Presley.
- Amanda Carnovan – Presley's mom. She works at the City Museum. She tries her best to be there for Presley, especially since his father is often away.
The Mummies
- Ja-Kal – Ja-Kal is the leader of the mummies. When he transforms, his armor looks like a falcon, and he can fly. He uses sharp claws and a bow that shoots flaming arrows. He acts like a father figure to Presley and always puts others first.
- Rath – Rath is the smartest mummy and the only one who can cast magic spells. When he transforms, a golden cobra becomes his armor. His weapon is a sword that can turn into a snake. He also designs and builds the mummies' vehicles.
- Armon – Armon is the biggest and strongest mummy. He loves to eat! He is missing his right arm, but when he transforms, he gets a powerful golden arm. His armor looks like a ram. In ancient Egypt, he taught Prince Rapses how to fight.
- Nefer-Tina – Nefer-Tina is the only female mummy. She is amazing with her whip and is very good at driving the mummies' car, the Hot-Ra. Her armor looks like a cat when she transforms. In ancient Egypt, she had to pretend to be a boy to drive chariots. She loves trying new things in the modern world.
- Scarab – Scarab is the main bad guy. He was the Pharaoh's advisor but tried to steal Prince Rapses' life force. When he transforms, he wears golden and purple armor like a scarab beetle and can fly. He shoots energy blasts and can summon creatures.
- Harris Stone – This is the fake identity Scarab uses in public. He pretends to be a rich person who supports the museum.
- Heka – Heka is Scarab's talking snake. She often acts as his magical staff. She is loyal but also makes sarcastic comments.
Other Important Characters
- Amenhotep – Prince Rapses' father and the Pharaoh of Egypt. He was a good and respected ruler.
- Ammut – Scarab's dog-like pet. He has the head of a crocodile, the body of a lion, and the back of a hippopotamus. He often messes up Scarab's plans.
- Apep – A snake-like creature who can change into a human. He wants revenge on Prince Rapses' family. He falls in love with Nefer-Tina.
- Arakh – Ja-Kal's evil brother, known as the "Scorpion of the Desert." He can transform into scorpion armor.
- Bastet – The Cat Goddess from ancient Egypt. She is Nefer-Tina's patron goddess.
- Kahti – The sacred cat. She was Prince Rapses' pet and now protects Presley. She can transform into a bigger, more powerful cat.
- Set and Anubis – Set is a bulldog-headed spirit, and Anubis is a jackal spirit. They are often summoned by Scarab to cause trouble.
