Grevillea whiteana, also known as the Mundubbera grevillea, is a special type of shrub or small tree. It only grows naturally in one place: Queensland, Australia. This means it is endemic to Queensland.

What the Mundubbera Grevillea Looks Like

This plant can grow quite tall, from about 2 to 9 metres high. That's like a small house! It has pretty cream-coloured flowers. You can see these flowers from early autumn to mid-spring in Australia. This means they bloom from March to October.

How the Mundubbera Grevillea Got Its Name

The first official sample of this plant was collected in 1974. It was found near a place called Mundubbera in Queensland. By 1986, people started growing it in gardens. They sold it under names like Grevillea 'Munduberra' or Grevillea 'Honeycomb'.

A botanist named Donald McGillivray officially described the plant in 1986. He gave it the name Grevillea whiteana. This name honours C. T. White. He was a government botanist for Queensland from 1918 to 1950.

Where the Mundubbera Grevillea Grows

This plant grows in the south-east part of Queensland. You can find it from Boondooma northwards to Mundubbera. It also grows on Mt Walsh near Biggenden.

Different Types of Mundubbera Grevillea

Sometimes, plant experts create new types of plants. These are called cultivars. One special cultivar is called Grevillea 'Pink Surprise'. It is a mix between Grevillea whiteana and a red-flowering plant called Grevillea banksii. This 'Pink Surprise' plant has pink flowers. It grows to about 3 metres high.
