Murmansk State Technical University, often called MSTU, is a big school located on the Kola Peninsula in Russia. It's a place where students learn many different subjects, especially those related to the sea and technology.
It started way back in 1950 as the High Marine School. Over the years, it grew and changed its name, becoming the Russian State Academy of Fishing Fleet. Then, in 1996, it became the Murmansk State Technical University we know today.
What You Can Study at MSTU
Today, Murmansk State Technical University has many different parts where students can learn. These include three main faculties, four institutes, and a special Marine Academy. Some other colleges, like Mesiatsev Murmansk Marine Fishing College and Arkhangelsk Fishing Technical College, are also part of MSTU. There are also branches in places like Poliarnyi and Apatity.
Here are some of the main areas of study:
- The Marine Academy (This includes special training for people who want to become leaders on ships.)
- The Faculty of Arctic Technologies (Here you can learn about new technologies used in the Arctic region.)
- The Faculty of Part-Time Education (This is for students who study part-time, perhaps while also working.)
- The Faculty of Social and Economic Studies (This also offers part-time programs for subjects like business and society.)
- The Institute of Natural Science and Technology (This is where you can study science and technology.)
- The Institute of Economics, Management and Law (Here you learn about money, how to run things, and laws.)
- The Institute of Distance Learning (This allows students to learn from far away, often online.)
- The Further Professional Education Institute (This helps people who already have a job learn new skills or improve old ones.)
