By 1959, the museum had collected about 10,000 amazing pieces! To hold all these treasures, a new building opened on November 20, 1960. Later, in 1966, another building was added. This second building held items related to ethnography, which is the study of different cultures and their customs.

In 1985, the old museum buildings were taken down to make way for an even bigger and better museum. Paul Balev, an architect from New York City, designed the new building. This awesome new museum was finished in 1986.
