The Museum of Berkshire Aviation is a cool place to visit in Woodley, England. It's a small museum all about airplanes and flying! The museum is built right next to where the old Woodley Aerodrome (an airfield for planes) used to be. Many of the planes and displays here are connected to companies like Phillips & Powis and Miles Aircraft. These companies built planes right here in Woodley from 1932 to 1947. You'll also see aircraft made by Handley Page and Fairey Aviation.

Discover the Museum of Berkshire Aviation

This museum might be small, but it has some really special airplanes you won't find anywhere else! These planes are called "unique survivors" because they are the only ones left of their kind.

Unique Aircraft You Can See

  • A Miles Martinet is one of these special planes. It was used during World War II to tow targets for practice.
  • The museum also has the only Miles Student ever built. This was a jet plane designed to train two pilots at once.
  • Another amazing aircraft is the Fairey Jet Gyrodyne. This is a very rare type of aircraft that is a mix between a helicopter and an autogyro. It could take off like a helicopter but fly like a plane!

More Awesome Exhibits

Besides the unique planes, there are other interesting aircraft to explore:

  • A Fairey Gannet: This plane used to fly from aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy. Its job was to hunt for submarines under the sea.
  • A Handley Page Herald: This is a large passenger plane with propellers. It was designed by the Miles company and built in Woodley.
  • A Miles Magister: This was a simple two-seat plane used to teach new pilots how to fly.
