Many people and groups helped the museum move to its new home. In 2015, the Boettcher Foundation gave the museum $75,000. This money helped with the renovations. The National Endowment for the Humanities also gave a large grant. This grant helped the museum raise even more money for the building.

In 2014, voters in Boulder approved a special tax. This tax helped fund community and cultural projects. About $4 million from this tax went to the museum. In 2017, a generous person named Stephen Tebo donated $1.5 million. His donation helped the museum a lot.
