Mutsuhiko Nomura (野村 六彦, Nomura Mutsuhiko, born February 10, 1940) is a famous former Japanese football player and manager. He was known for his skills as a forward, scoring many goals during his career.

Mutsuhiko Nomura was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on February 10, 1940. He grew up to become one of Japan's respected football figures. He played as a forward, which is a player whose main job is to score goals.

Early Days and College Football

Nomura started his football journey playing for Chuo University. During his time there, he showed great talent. In 1962, his university team won the Emperor's Cup, which is a major football tournament in Japan. He played alongside other future stars like Aritatsu Ogi and Yasuyuki Kuwahara.

Professional Club Career

After finishing university, Nomura joined the professional football club Hitachi in 1963. This club is now known as Kashiwa Reysol.

In 1965, the Japan Soccer League started its first season. Nomura quickly made a name for himself. He played 14 games and scored an amazing 15 goals. This made him the very first "top scorer" of the league, meaning he scored more goals than anyone else that season.

His career with Hitachi was very successful. In the 1972 season, his team won the league championship. That same year, Nomura received two big honors: he was chosen for the "Best Eleven" team, which is like an all-star team of the best players, and he also won the "Japanese Footballer of the Year" award. He continued playing until 1975, when he retired from professional football.

Coaching and Hall of Fame

Even before he stopped playing, Nomura started helping out as an assistant coach for Hitachi in 1974. After retiring as a player, he became the main manager for Hitachi in 1979. He led the team for a few years before stepping down in 1981.

Many years later, in 2014, Mutsuhiko Nomura was honored for his contributions to Japanese football. He was selected to join the Japan Football Hall of Fame. This special place recognizes people who have made a big impact on football in Japan.

Playing in the Senior League

Even after his professional career, Nomura continued to enjoy playing football. He currently plays in the "Soccer For Life" league. This is an amateur football league in Japan specifically for players who are over 60 years old. It shows his lasting love for the sport!
