Mutsuhiko Nomura (野村 六彦, Nomura Mutsuhiko, born February 10, 1940) is a famous Japanese football player and manager. He was known for being a forward, scoring many goals during his career. He played for Hitachi, which is now known as Kashiwa Reysol. Nomura also coached the Hitachi team after he stopped playing.

Mutsuhiko Nomura's Football Journey

Mutsuhiko Nomura was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on February 10, 1940. He loved football from a young age. He played for Chuo University while he was a student. In 1962, his university team won the Emperor's Cup. This is a very important football tournament in Japan. He played alongside other great players like Aritatsu Ogi and Yasuyuki Kuwahara.

After finishing university in 1963, Nomura joined a professional team called Hitachi. This team is now known as Kashiwa Reysol. In 1965, the Japan Soccer League started its first season. Nomura played 14 games and scored 15 goals for Hitachi. He became the very first top scorer in the league.

In the 1972 season, Nomura's team, Hitachi, won the championship. This was a huge achievement for the club. Nomura himself was recognized for his amazing skills. He was chosen for the Best Eleven team, which means he was one of the best players in the league. He also won the Japanese Footballer of the Year award. Nomura continued to play for Hitachi until he retired in 1975.

Mutsuhiko Nomura's Coaching Career

Even before he stopped playing, Mutsuhiko Nomura started helping out as a coach. In 1974, while still a player for Hitachi, he also became an assistant coach for the team. This helped him learn more about managing a football club.

In 1979, Nomura took on a bigger role. He became the main manager for the Hitachi team. He led the team for a few years before stepping down in 1981. His contributions to Japanese football were remembered years later. In 2014, he was honored by being selected for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. Playing in the Senior League
