Mwaro Province is one of the 18 provinces in the country of Burundi. Burundi is a country located in East Africa. Mwaro Province is known for its beautiful landscapes and friendly people.
The capital city of Mwaro Province is a town also called Mwaro. This is where the main government offices for the province are located.

History of Mwaro Province
Mwaro Province is a fairly new province. It was created in 2002. Before that, its land was part of another province called Muramvya Province.
When Muramvya Province was split, two new provinces were formed. One of them kept the name Muramvya. The other new province was named Mwaro. This change helped to better manage the different areas of Burundi.
Geography and Size
Mwaro Province is located in the central part of Burundi. It covers an area of about 839.60 square kilometers (about 324 square miles). To give you an idea, this is a bit smaller than the city of New York in the USA.
The province has a varied landscape. It includes hills, valleys, and some flat areas. The climate is generally mild, which is good for farming.
Population and People
According to a census from 2008, about 273,143 people live in Mwaro Province. The people living here are mostly from the Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa ethnic groups, just like in other parts of Burundi.
Most people in Mwaro Province work in agriculture. They grow crops like coffee, tea, and bananas. These crops are important for the local economy.
