Myles Munroe (born April 20, 1954 – died November 9, 2014) was an important leader from the Bahamas. He was a speaker, author, and teacher who helped many people. He started an organization called Bahamas Faith Ministries International (BFMI). He also wrote many books about leadership and faith.
Sadly, Myles Munroe and his wife died in a plane crash on November 9, 2014. Their plane hit a crane near the Grand Bahama International Airport. They were traveling to a conference.

About Myles Munroe
His Early Life and Schooling
Myles Egbert Munroe was born in 1954 in Nassau, Bahamas. He grew up in a large family with eleven children. His family lived in a part of Nassau called Bain Town. He lived in the Bahamas his whole life.
When he was a teenager, Myles Munroe became a Christian. He later went to Oral Roberts University (ORU). There, he earned a degree in Fine Arts, Education, and Theology in 1978. He also got a Master's degree in administration from the University of Tulsa in 1980. He received special honorary degrees from other schools too. He also taught at Oral Roberts University.
His Family Life
Myles Munroe was married to Ruth Munroe. She also worked as a co-pastor with him at BFMI. They got married in 1978. Together, they had two children. Their son was named Myles Jr., and their daughter was named Charisa.
His Christian Work
After finishing his studies at the University of Tulsa, Myles Munroe started Bahamas Faith Ministries International. This was in the early 1980s. He became known as a speaker and teacher around the world.
His Passing
Myles Munroe and his wife, Ruth, died in a private plane crash. This happened on November 9, 2014. The plane was getting ready to land at the airport. Officials in the Bahamas said the aircraft hit a crane. This crane was at a shipyard near Grand Bahama International Airport. Myles Munroe and the other people on the plane were going to a conference in Freeport.
Awards and Special Honours
Myles Munroe received several awards for his work:
- In 1998, he was given the OBE. This award was for his "services to religion."
- Also in 1998, he received the Bahamian "Silver Jubilee Award." This was for his help in the "spiritual, social, and religious development" of the Bahamas.
- In 2004, Oral Roberts University named him "Alumnus of the Year." This award honors former students who have achieved great things.
