Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi (born Myriam Jerusalmi on 24 October 1961) is a very successful former French slalom canoeist. She competed internationally from 1979 to 1996. She is known for winning an Olympic medal and many World Championship titles.

Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi's Amazing Career

Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi was a top athlete in canoe slalom. This sport involves racing a kayak or canoe down a whitewater course. Athletes must pass through gates hanging over the water without touching them. It requires great skill and speed.

Olympic and World Championship Success

Myriam competed in two Summer Olympics. She won a bronze medal in the K1 event at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The K1 event means she raced in a single-person kayak.

She also won ten medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. These championships are a big international competition for canoe slalom. Myriam earned eight gold medals and two silver medals. Her gold medals included individual K1 wins in 1989 and 1993. She also won many team K1 gold medals.

World Cup Champion

Myriam was also a champion in the Canoe Slalom World Cup. This is a series of races held throughout the year. She won the overall World Cup title three times in a row. She was the best in the world from 1989 to 1991.

Life After Competing

After her racing career, Myriam continued to be involved in sports. In 2018, she was recognized for her coaching skills. She won the Coach of the Year award at the AIS Sport Performance Awards in Australia.

Myriam's Family of Champions

Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi comes from a family deeply involved in canoe slalom. Her husband, Richard Fox, was also a famous slalom canoeist for Great Britain. He later became a coach for Australia's team. He also works as an executive officer for the International Canoe Federation.

Myriam and Richard have two daughters who are also amazing canoeists. Their older daughter, Jessica Fox, is a highly decorated athlete. She won gold at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. As of 2022, Jessica has won four Olympic medals and sixteen World Championship medals. She won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics in the K1 slalom event.

Their younger daughter, Noemie Fox, is also a talented slalom canoeist. It's clear that athletic talent runs in their family! Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi is also Jewish.
