Máximo Gómez is a village in Cuba. It is located in the Matanzas Province. This village is also known as a consejo popular, which means it is a local community or district. It belongs to the Perico municipality.

The Story of Máximo Gómez Village

This village started a long time ago. It was founded in 1770. Back then, it had a different name: Guanajayabo.

Later, the village's name was changed. It was renamed to honor a very important person. This person was Máximo Gómez, a leader in Cuba's fight for independence.

How the Village Changed Over Time

For many years, from 1902 to 1927, Máximo Gómez was part of the Martí municipality.

Then, in 1927, Máximo Gómez became its own municipality. This meant it was in charge of itself. It included other nearby communities like Rancho del Medio and Sabanilla de la Palma.

This lasted until 1976. At that time, the municipality was divided. Its areas became part of two other municipalities: Martí and Perico.
