The Sindh expedition was one of the last military campaigns led by Nader Shah, a powerful ruler of the Persian Empire. This happened during his big war in northern India. After Nader Shah defeated Muhammad Shah, the Mughal emperor, he made him give up all the lands west of the Indus River.

When Nader Shah returned from Delhi, all the governors of these new lands came to show their respect. However, Khudayar Khan, who ruled Sindh, was not there. He had been asked to come, just like the others, but he didn't show up. This made Nader Shah decide to go to Sindh.

Nader Shah's Surprise March to Sindh

Nader Shah began a long journey across the Hindu Kush mountains. This trip was about 1,700 kilometers (over 1,000 miles) long. He completed it in just two months. Khudayar Khan was completely surprised by Nader Shah's sudden arrival. He couldn't gather his forces to fight back. The Imperial army moved very quickly into his lands.

Feeling shocked and defeated, Khudayar Khan gave himself up to Nader Shah. He was put in chains, and all his personal treasures, including his money, were taken. Later, another governor felt sorry for Khudayar Khan and spoke to Nader Shah on his behalf. Because of this, Nader Shah decided to let Khudayar Khan rule Sindh again.
