Nadezhda Simonyan (born February 26, 1922 – died June 7, 1997) was a talented Russian composer. She created music for over 40 films, radio shows, and TV programs. She also wrote music for orchestras, smaller groups of instruments, and even circus shows!

Early Life and Education

Nadezhda Simonyan was born in Rostov-on-Don. She loved music from a young age. She studied composition (how to write music) and piano at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. This school was called the Leningrad Conservatory back then. She finished her studies in 1950 and even won a special medal. Her teachers included Oles Chishko and Venedikt Pushkov.

Nadezhda Simonyan wrote her first movie music in 1956. It was for a children's film called Old Man Khottabych. People said her music had a "warm melodiousness." This means her tunes were lovely and full of feeling. Her music could make happy, sad, or exciting parts of a movie feel just right. She was also very good at choosing the right instruments for each scene.

In 1960, a famous Italian filmmaker named Federico Fellini praised her music. He loved her soundtrack for the movie Lady with the Dog. Nadezhda often used smaller groups of instruments for her film scores. Sometimes, she even added traditional folk instruments.
