The Dal Pescatore Restaurant

Nadia's restaurant, Dal Pescatore, is in a small village called Canneto sull'Oglio. This village is in the Lombardy region of Italy. The restaurant started as a simple Italian eatery, known as a trattoria. It was first opened by her husband's great-grandparents way back in the 1910s.

Nadia and her husband took over the restaurant in 1974. They worked hard to make it special. In 1996, their efforts paid off big time! Dal Pescatore was awarded three Michelin stars. This made Nadia Santini the very first Italian woman chef to achieve such a high award.

In 2010, a German filmmaker named Lutz Hachmeister made a television documentary called Three Stars. Nadia Santini was one of the chefs featured in this film. The documentary showed what it's like to run a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Critics praised Nadia's appearance in the film. They said she had a "radiant personality." Her calm and traditional way of cooking stood out. She showed how much she cared for her recipes, her team, and her customers.

Respected by Other Chefs

Many other famous chefs look up to Nadia Santini. French chef Anne-Sophie Pic called her "extraordinary" and a true inspiration. British chef Angela Hartnett also said that Nadia Santini is one of her "heroes." This shows how much respect Nadia has earned in the cooking world.

In 2013, Nadia Santini received another big award. She was named the 2013 Veuve Clicquot World's Best Female Chef. This award came from The World's 50 Best Restaurants, which is put together by Restaurant magazine.

Nadia's Family Life

Nadia Santini is married to Antonio. He also works at their restaurant, Dal Pescatore. While Nadia is busy in the kitchen, Antonio takes care of the guests at the front of the restaurant. They met when they were both studying political science at the Universita degli Studi di Milano (University of Milan).
