Anne-Sophie Pic (born July 12, 1969) is a famous French chef. She is known for her amazing cooking and for leading her family's restaurant, Maison Pic, to earn three Michelin stars again. This is a very high honor in the cooking world! Anne-Sophie was only the fourth woman chef to achieve this. In 2011, she was even named the Best Female Chef in the world. She currently holds a total of 10 Michelin stars across her restaurants.

About Anne-Sophie Pic

Anne-Sophie Pic was born in Valence, Drôme, France, on July 12, 1969. She grew up in her family's restaurant, Maison Pic. Her grandfather, Andre Pic, was also a famous chef. He earned the restaurant its first three Michelin stars way back in 1934. Her father, Jacques Pic, was also a chef.

At first, Anne-Sophie didn't plan to become a chef. She traveled and studied management in places like Japan and the United States. But she soon realized her true passion was cooking. She felt drawn back to the family restaurant.

Becoming a Chef

In 1992, when she was 23, Anne-Sophie returned to Maison Pic. She started training with her father. Sadly, he passed away just three months later. After his death, she worked in the "front of the house," which means she managed the dining room and guests.

In 1995, the restaurant lost one of its three Michelin stars. Anne-Sophie felt like she had lost "her father's star." This motivated her to go into the kitchen and become a chef herself. She took control of the restaurant in 1997. What's amazing is that she had no formal training in cooking!

Earning Stars and Opening Restaurants

In 2007, Anne-Sophie Pic worked hard and regained Maison Pic's three Michelin stars. This was a huge achievement! She was only the fourth woman chef in history to earn three Michelin stars. That same year, a French newspaper listed her as one of the top twenty richest chefs in France.

She then opened her second restaurant, Restaurant Anne-Sophie Pic, in Lausanne, Switzerland. It quickly earned two Michelin stars in 2009 and has kept them ever since. In 2012, she opened her first restaurant in Paris, called La Dame de Pic. This restaurant has also earned one Michelin star.

In 2017, Anne-Sophie opened another La Dame de Pic restaurant in London. It earned a Michelin star less than a year after opening. Later, it earned a second star. In 2019, she opened another La Dame de Pic in Singapore, which also received a Michelin star. At the end of 2020, she opened La Dame de Pic - Le 1920 in Megève, France, which earned its first Michelin star in 2022.

Other Ventures and Family Life

Anne-Sophie Pic is married to David Sinapian, and they have a son named Nathan.

She has also appeared on television. In 2018, she was a judge on the cooking show The Final Table. She was also featured in a documentary film called The Heat: A Kitchen (R)evolution.

During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, she launched a food truck in Valence called Pic-up. This was her first time offering hamburgers!

Awards and Honors

Anne-Sophie Pic has received many important awards for her culinary skills.

  • In 2011, she won the Veuve Clicquot World's Best Female Chef award. This award is given by the World's 50 Best Restaurants group. It was the first time this award was given, and Anne-Sophie was chosen from many talented chefs. At that time, she was the only woman chef in France with three Michelin stars.
  • On July 14, 2011, she was honored as a Chevalier (Knight) of the French Legion of Honour. This is a very high award given by the French government.
