Discover Nairn Falls Provincial Park
Nairn Falls Provincial Park covers 170 hectares of land. That's about the size of 340 football fields! The park was officially opened on April 4, 1966. It was established soon after Highway 99 was built nearby. The park's main goal is to protect the stunning Nairn Falls and make it easy for visitors to see them. It's managed by BC Parks, which looks after many parks in British Columbia.
The Amazing Nairn Falls
The main attraction at the park is Nairn Falls itself. This is a spectacular waterfall that drops in different sections, like steps. The powerful Green River flows through a narrow canyon right before it plunges down. This canyon makes the water rush even faster!
The waterfall is quite tall, measuring about 39.6 meters (or 130 feet) high. Imagine a 13-story building – that's how tall it is! On average, the waterfall is about 9.1 meters (30 feet) wide. After the falls, the Green River continues its journey. It soon joins the Lillooet River, which then flows into the beautiful Lillooet Lake.
Exploring the Park: Facilities
Nairn Falls Provincial Park is a great place to visit and even stay overnight. The park has a campground located in a peaceful forest area, close to the falls. There are 94 campsites where you can park your vehicle right next to your spot. This makes it easy to set up your camp! The campground is usually open for visitors from May all the way through October. It's a perfect spot for camping and enjoying nature.
