Nampula is a large and important province in the northern part of Mozambique. This country is located in southeastern Africa. The main city, which is also the capital of the province, is also called Nampula. It's a busy place and a center for trade and business in the region.

One very special part of Nampula Province is the Ilha de Moçambique. This island is so important and unique that it has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means it's recognized globally for its cultural or historical value.

Geography and Nature

Nampula Province has interesting natural features. The Lúrio River forms the northern border of the province. Rivers are often important for travel and for the plants and animals that live nearby.

The province is also home to several mountains. These include Mount Inago, which is 1,804 meters (about 5,919 feet) tall. Other mountains are Mount Ribaue, Mount Panda, and Mount Nairucu. Mountains can create different climates and provide homes for unique wildlife.
