Nana Visitor (born Nana Tucker; July 26, 1957) is an American actress. She is most famous for her role as Kira Nerys in the TV series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She also played Jean Ritter in the TV series Wildfire.

Early Life and Family
Nana Tucker was born on July 26, 1957, in New York City. Her mother, Nenette Charisse, was a ballet teacher. Her father, Robert Tucker, was a choreographer. Nana Visitor is also the niece of the famous actress and dancer Cyd Charisse.
Becoming an Actress
Nana Visitor started her acting journey in the 1970s. She performed on the Broadway stage in plays like My One and Only. Her first movie role was in the 1977 film The Sentinel.
On television, she appeared in the sitcom Ivan the Terrible in 1976. She also had roles in soap operas such as Ryan's Hope and One Life to Live. In the early 1980s, she changed her stage name to "Nana Visitor." Later, she legally changed her name to Visitor.
Early TV Roles
Throughout the 1980s, Nana Visitor appeared in many popular TV shows. She was in episodes of Hunter and MacGyver. She also had roles in Remington Steele, Knight Rider, and Highway to Heaven. In 1988, she appeared in Night Court and In the Heat of the Night. She also had a role in Doogie Howser, M.D. in 1989.
Star Trek and Beyond
From 1993 to 1999, Nana Visitor starred as Major (and later Colonel) Kira Nerys in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Her character, Kira, was a brave former freedom fighter from the planet Bajor. She fought against the Cardassians who had taken over her world. After the Cardassians left, Kira became the first officer of the space station. Nana Visitor also returned to voice Kira Nerys in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.
After Deep Space Nine ended, Visitor continued acting. She had a recurring role as Dr. Elizabeth Renfro in the TV series Dark Angel. She also performed on stage as Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago. From 2005 to 2008, she played Jean Ritter in the ABC Family series Wildfire.
In 2008, she appeared in an episode of Battlestar Galactica. She also had a small role in the 2009 movie Friday the 13th. Nana Visitor has also lent her voice to characters in the animated sitcom Family Guy. In 2011, she was in the film The Resident and the TV series Torchwood: Miracle Day. In 2012, she appeared in an episode of Castle.
In 2024, Nana Visitor released her book, "Star Trek: Open a Channel: A Woman's Trek." This book explores the female characters in the Star Trek universe and the actresses who played them.
Personal Life
Nana Visitor has been married three times and has two children. She was married to Nick Miscusi from 1989 to 1994. They have one son together.
Later, she married her Star Trek: Deep Space Nine co-star Alexander Siddig in 1997. They had a son together, and her real-life pregnancy was even written into the storyline of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. They divorced in 2001.
In 2003, Nana Visitor married Matthew Rimmer. He was previously the company manager for the musical Chicago.
In 2001, Nana Visitor and her Star Trek: Deep Space Nine co-star Terry Farrell were honored in a special way. An astronomer named two small asteroids after them: 26733 Nanavisitor and 26734 Terryfarrell.
Awards and Recognition
Nana Visitor has received several awards for her acting. She won the Sci-Fi Universe Magazine's Universe Reader's Choice Award in 1995 for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series for her role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She also won multiple Online Film & Television Association Television Awards for Best Actress in a Syndicated Series for her work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1997, 1998, and 1999.
