Nanni Loy (born Giovanni Loi; October 23, 1925 – August 21, 1995) was a famous Italian director. He directed films, theater plays, and TV shows. Nanni Loy was from Sardinia, an island in Italy. He was one of several well-known filmmakers from that region.

About Nanni Loy
Nanni Loy was born in Cagliari, Sardinia. His father, Guglielmo Loy-Donà, was a lawyer. His mother, Donna Anna Sanjust, came from a noble family. His sister-in-law, Rosetta Loy, was also a well-known Italian writer.
His TV Work
Nanni Loy became famous in Italy for bringing the "candid camera" style to television. In 1965, he created a show called Specchio segreto, which means "Secret Mirror." This show secretly filmed people's reactions to funny or unusual situations.
Award-Winning Films
Nanni Loy directed many important films. His 1962 movie, The Four Days of Naples, was very successful. It was even nominated for two Academy Awards in the United States. It also won a special award called the FIPRESCI Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1963.
Another one of his films, Detenuto in attesa di giudizio (1971), was shown at the Berlin International Film Festival. The main actor in the film, Alberto Sordi, won an award for Best Actor for his role.
His Directing Style
