Naples is a small place in Henderson County, North Carolina, in the United States. It's not a city or town with its own government, but rather an unincorporated community. This means it's part of a larger county area. Naples is also considered part of the bigger Asheville area, which is a major city nearby. You can find Naples close to two important roads: U.S. Route 25 Business and Interstate 26 (specifically exit 44).
History of Naples, North Carolina
How Naples Got Its Name
The community of Naples got its name in 1901. Before that, the area had a post office called "Mud Creek Post Office," which had been around since 1838.
The post office was moved and renamed. A local resident thought the valley, especially when the Mud Creek flooded, looked like the famous Bay of Naples in Italy. That's how this part of North Carolina got its unique name!
