Natalie Allyn Sleeth (born Wakeley; October 29, 1930 – March 21, 1992) was an American composer. She wrote many hymns and choral music pieces. Choral music is music written for a group of singers, like a choir.

About Natalie Sleeth
Natalie Sleeth was born in Evanston, Illinois. She started learning to play the piano when she was only four years old.
Her Education and Family
In 1952, Natalie graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She earned a degree in music theory, which is the study of how music is put together.
She later married Ronald E. Sleeth. He was a professor who taught about giving speeches, especially in churches.
Her Musical Works
Natalie Sleeth became a very successful composer. She wrote over 180 pieces of music for churches and schools. Many of her works were published by well-known music companies.
She also played the organ. In 1989 and 1990, she received special honorary doctorates. These are degrees given to people to honor their achievements, even if they didn't study at that college.
"Joy in the Morning"
One of Natalie Sleeth's most famous songs for choirs is called "Joy in the Morning." She wrote it in 1977. This song was created for a special event when her husband became the president of West Virginia Wesleyan College.
"Hymn of Promise"
In 1985, Natalie Sleeth wrote another important song called "Hymn of Promise." She dedicated this song to her husband, Ron. He passed away shortly after the song was first performed.
This song quickly became a popular hymn. It is known by two different names: "In the Bulb There is a Flower" and "Hymn of Promise." You can find it in many church songbooks, like those used by the United Church of Canada and the United Church of Christ. The hymn was even translated into German in 1999.
Her Later Life
Natalie Sleeth passed away in Denver, Colorado, in 1992. She was 61 years old. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas.
