Natascha Keller is a famous German field hockey player. She was born on July 3, 1977, in West Berlin. She played as a striker, which means she was responsible for scoring goals for her team. Natascha is best known for winning a gold medal with the German team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She also played in four other Olympic Games.
A Field Hockey Star
Natascha Keller is one of Germany's most successful field hockey players. She played for the Germany women's national field hockey team over 400 times. This makes her the female player with the most games played for her country in history!
Olympic Achievements
Natascha competed in five Olympic Games. She first played in the 1996 Summer Olympics and then in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Her biggest success came at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. There, she and her team won the gold medal in field hockey. She also competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
At the 2012 London Olympics, Natascha had a special honor. She was chosen to be the flag bearer for Germany. This meant she led her country's athletes during the opening ceremony. She was the first field hockey player ever to be given this honor for Germany.
A Family of Champions
Natascha comes from a very talented field hockey family. Her father, Carsten Keller, was also an Olympic field hockey player. Her grandfather, Erwin Keller, played the sport too.
Natascha's brothers, Andreas Keller and Florian Keller, are also famous field hockey players. Like their father and Natascha, they all played as strikers. All of them have won gold medals in field hockey at the Olympics! It's truly a family of champions.
