Early Life and College Basketball
Nate Williams was born on May 2, 1950, in Columbia, Louisiana. He went to McClymonds High School in Oakland, California. After high school, he played college basketball for Utah State University. He played there from 1969 to 1971.
Starting His NBA Career
Nate Williams was chosen first in a special draft called the 1971 NBA Hardship Draft. This draft was for college players who wanted to join the NBA early. It was a big deal to be picked first! He started his NBA journey with the Cincinnati Royals in 1971.
Playing for the Kings
The Cincinnati Royals later changed their name to the Kansas City-Omaha Kings. Nate played for this team for several years. His best season was during the 1973–74 season. In that year, he scored an average of 15.5 points per game. He also grabbed 4.2 rebounds and made 2.2 assists per game. These are great numbers for a basketball player.
Later Career Teams
After playing for the Kings, Nate joined the New Orleans Jazz. He played there from 1974 to 1977. Later, he moved to the Golden State Warriors for the 1977–78 season. He finished his NBA career in 1979.
